Lunch at Mien a 50-Year Cafe in New Futaba Sun Mall Shopping Street

Under the elevated tracks at Hankyu Shukugawa Station, in the New Futaba Sun Mall shopping street, you’ll find Kissaten Misono, a cafe that has been around for 50 years. It has been running since the owner’s mother’s generation, and today it’s operated by two sisters.

Judging from the outside, I imagined it must have lots of regulars, so I gathered just a little courage and stepped inside (^o^)／

The Food at “Kissaten Misono”

It comes with plenty of tartar sauce and three fried shrimp♪Just like the food sample outside～
Somehow, having three shrimp feels like a better deal than two big ones😀

The shrimp are plump, the coating is thin and light, and I personally loved the gentle flavor of the tartar sauce♪

If you prefer stronger flavors, feel free to add your choice of sauce, salt, or ichimi chili pepper.

For the rice, you could choose either white rice or sixteen-grain rice, so I went with the sixteen-grain rice～
Just choosing sixteen-grain rice somehow makes me feel healthier😅

The miso soup had tofu, wakame seaweed, fried tofu, and kaiware sprouts, with a low-salt flavor that felt really comforting～

Overall, the mild seasoning and homemade feel were so pleasant, giving it that nostalgic feeling of eating at your family home😃
The inside of the cafe was also very cozy, and I left thinking, “I can see why this place has lasted 50 years” (^o^)
