I went to take a look ↓

This is the clock tower. It seems to have been donated in Showa 53 (1978).
On the shrine grounds map, it’s here ↓

It’s near the parking lot.
The parking lot ↓

If you can’t tell where it is, this photo might give you one of those “aha!” moments.
Zoomed in ↓

Seen from the parking lot side, it’s hard to spot because the leaves are in the way.

From the approach to the shrine, it looks like this.

It kind of peeks out, doesn’t it?

Apparently the clock had been breaking down repeatedly, and finally reached the end of its life. It was the kind of clock tower that felt like it had quietly watched over the area for a long, long time. It’s sad to see it removed…
*Sasako @ Nishi2 SP, thank you for the tip!!
