In Naruoh-cho, we visited “Saji no Ie,” a whole house dedicated to bread
.
Cafe “Sajipan”

First up is “Sajipan,” located inside Saji no Ie. They sell bread only on Wednesdays and Saturdays 🙂🍞💓
It’s a shop created by the owner, Mayumi Saji, filled with all kinds of thoughtful touches.

So, bread is sold face-to-face! They explain the breads and chat with customers while selling them.
In the mornings, many moms with small children apparently stop by, and while we were there covering the shop, students came in on their way home from school !(^^)!
Customers shop while chatting, saying things like “Which one should I get today?” “Hmm, what should I choose?” and “This one has extra chocolate right now” 💓
You can also buy bread and eat it in the cafe space on the second floor.
Here’s the cafe menu ↓

After ordering bread and a drink, you open the door and go inside, but for some reason everyone apparently says “Ojamashimasu” (“excuse me for coming in”) as they enter !(^^)!
The cafe space looks like this ↓ The owner is particular about the furniture too. The table has a wonderfully smooth, dreamy feel to it (^^♪

The breads we had with cafe au lait were Fuwa Choco (soft bread with Belgian chocolate inside), Tuna Cheese (with enough tuna that no one would be disappointed), and Salted Butter Bread (the owner’s recommendation!). They were all delicious (^^♪
They warm up the bread and bring it to you at just the right temperature(*^_^*)

The onion gratin soup has cheese at the bottom, so please enjoy it while it’s still hot!

The first floor of Saji no Ie is the owner’s secret base! On this day, she had an order for cookies 🙂 They looked so good!!!!

The Garage Greengrocer
And in the garage, we bought rare vegetables grown completely without pesticides or chemical fertilizers from a farmer’s vegetable stand that didn’t have a name yet (we received a tip about it!) 🌶
They are open only on Fridays and Saturdays.

The vegetables are grown and sold by Mr. Ozaki in Kameoka, Kyoto. Sorry for the poor photo (^_^;)

We made a salad with the red daikon, and it was juicy, sweet, and really delicious (#^.^#)

Finally
We went to check out the greengrocer after receiving a tip, but Saji no Ie turned out to be a place filled with owner Ms. Saji’s passion. She spoke about it with so much enthusiasm!
They also seem to offer bread-making classes and rental studio space, so be sure to check out their website (#^.^#)
Mr. Ozaki, the greengrocer, is also apparently receiving a lot of support from Ms. Saji, who lets him use the garage (it’s for a limited time, so please check with Saji no Ie).
