Last time we posted the “first-day速報,” and this time we’ll整理 the “features of this year” using the final ratios and trends over the past four years.

The application ratios for Reiwa 8 (2026) recommendation admissions, special selection, and related exams have been finalized. Looking not only at year-on-year comparisons but also at the four-year trend makes it easier to understand how applications are moving

I think a lot of people were startled by the first-day numbers, but what everyone really wants to know is how things ended up in the final figures. Let’s take a look

Results announcement: February 20 (Fri)

※The general entrance exam is scheduled for March 12 (Thu), with results announced on March 19 (Thu)

First, here’s a table comparing the “first-day ratio” and “final ratio.” Schools that were already high on the first day did not change much in the final figures either

Features of Reiwa 8 Seen Through the Four-Year Trend

Next is a table showing each school’s ratio over four years. This is the main part this time.

Top Schools Remain in the High-Ratio Zone

First, Nishinomiya Municipal High School (Global Science) has stayed in the 2x range for all four years, and this year it rose to 2.53. It’s right in the middle of the high-ratio zone

Nishinomiya Higashi Municipal High School (Science Inquiry / Social Inquiry) has eased slightly compared with last year, but remains relatively high at 1.65 and 1.55.

So the top schools are still consistently high

Prefectural Nishinomiya (General Course / Credit System) Sees a Major Rise in Ratio

Prefectural Nishinomiya (General Course / Credit System) went from R5: 1.59 → R6: 1.76 → R7: 1.97 → R8: 2.41. It has been rising year by year, and this year it jumped significantly.

Even just looking at the numbers, the trend is really clear. This might be the defining case of the year

Naruo (International Culture and Information) Rebounds

Naruo (International Culture and Information) had fallen from R6: 1.13 to R7: 1.00, but this year it turned upward to 1.25.

New School Nishinomiya Kurakuen Sees a Large Shift in Ratio

Nishinomiya Kurakuen (Humanities and Sciences Inquiry) changed significantly from R7: 1.70 to R8: 0.50. For newly established schools, it often takes several years for the applicant base to stabilize, so movements like this are common

From the uncertainty of the first year to this year’s number. I’m curious what will happen next year and beyond

General Courses Other Than Nishinomiya Municipal and Prefectural Nishinomiya Saw Lower Ratios

Looking at general courses, Naruo (General) went from R7: 1.48 to R8: 1.15, and Nishinomiya Minami (General) went from R7: 1.75 to R8: 1.17. After last year’s high ratios, they fell this year

The Relationship Between First-Day and Final Ratios

In Reiwa 7, the pattern of “low on the first day → rising by the final count” stood out, but in Reiwa 8, many schools were already high from the first day, and the final figures tended not to change much.

So this year, people had already settled on their choices pretty early. I see.

It’s Risky to Judge Safety by Ratios Alone

Ratios are an indicator of “popularity trends.” Actual admissions results are determined by internal school grades, exam-day scores, and the passing cutoff. Rather than judging by ratios alone, it’s important to think in terms of multi-year trends + where the student’s academic ability stands.
