If you know this, you can prove you’re a true Nishinomiya expert in our “Nishinomiya Quiz” corner.
Here’s today’s quiz↓
Q. How do you read this town name? “今津社前町”

The correct answer rate among Nishitsu staff was 20%.
At the very southern end of the long, narrow Imazu Shazenchō, along Rinkō-sen, you’ll find the new location for Gyomu Super, set to open in late May! (It’s where Co-op Nishinomiya Minami used to be.)
Looks like construction is moving along smoothly!

On the other hand, up at the very northern end near Route 43, there’s “Imazu Onsen”!
The correct answer is “Imazu Shazenchō”.

“Yashiromae?” “Shamae?” We checked answers among the Nishitsu team, but actually everyone there got it wrong. It’s one of those place names that looks like you should be able to read it, but can’t. (sob)
Only Yumacchi @ Nishitsu, who showed up later, got it right with ease… 🙈
The Origin of “今津社前町”
The “Fukuō Shrine”, now located in Imazu Daitōchō, is said to have once stood around what is now Imazu Shazenchō.
The area south of the shrine used to be called “Aza (small district) Miyamae”, named after the shrine. But when town names were revised in 1938, it overlapped with Miyamaechō south of Nishinomiya Shrine! So they chose “社前” instead, which has the same meaning, and the town name became Imazu Shazenchō!
Here’s the map↓
The address is Imazu Shazenchō, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
