A flower that blooms only once every 10 years is blooming at Mukogawa Danchi.
(Thanks to Fuko-san for the tip.)
Here it is↓

It’s a sago palm (sotetsu). The thing blooming in the middle is the sago palm flower, which is said to bloom only once every 10 years. Apparently, there were two of them in spots visible at about eye level.

It has the kind of look that might make you go, “Whoa…” It’s shaped like a basketball and about 30 cm in diameter. Sago palms are said to have existed since the Jurassic period, back in the age of dinosaurs, and are sometimes called “living fossils.”

Around here↓

If you walk west for about a minute along the pedestrian deck above the “plaza with the Akado train car,” you’ll reach a plaza, and it’s apparently in one corner of that area!
By the way
Actually, one bloomed in Uegahara two years ago too〜

Finally
Sago palm flowers are said to bloom “once every 10 years,” but since one also bloomed in Nishinomiya two years ago, it’s kind of nice to think that in Nishinomiya you might get to see one about once every eight years. If you spot one, try telling your kids, with a knowing look, “This only blooms once every 10 years, you know〜”
