Hanshin Nishinomiya: We visited “Bistro Détour,” a casual Italian and French restaurant that just opened in March
and I
went to check it out!
Here’s our article from when it opened↓↓
This is a new restaurant opened by the owner-chef of “Cour Vrai” in Koshienguchi, a place known for its omurice.

The Food at “Bistro Détour”
We decided to order a variety of à la carte dishes.

White Asparagus (Kagawa) Crème Brûlée with Firefly Squid and Karasumi \1,200
Apparently this was also on the menu at the previous restaurant, and some customers even come specifically for the brûlée.

It was lunchtime, but after looking at the menu, it felt like a waste not to have a drink.
While consulting with chef and sommelier Taniguchi, we also enjoyed some alcohol paired with the dishes we ordered.
Four-Potato Salad and Iberico Pork Loin Ham \800
Potato salad eaten with homemade mayonnaise, served with loin ham made in-house over about 10 days.
It includes a rare purple sweet potato variety called “Purple Sweet Road.”
The four kinds of potatoes come together and really bring out each other’s flavor~♪

Tender Grilled Confit of Awaji Octopus with Potato Purée \1,500
Underneath is a fluffy layer of richly flavored Hokkaido potatoes, almost like a soft blanket.
On top is octopus simmered for hours at just the right temperature until wonderfully tender.
The well-seasoned octopus and the potato gently nestle together, like they’ve built a very good relationship♪

Kawachi Duck Confit with Braised White Kidney Beans and Vegetables \2,800
Under the duck, vegetables and white kidney beans are packed in generously.

The duck falls apart easily and is so nice to eat, and the umami of the white kidney beans and vegetables pairs perfectly with it!
Napolitan \1,600
Even after eating quite a bit, we still couldn’t skip the finishing pasta.
We had them make the portion a little smaller, but after tasting how good it was, I found myself thinking I could have eaten more.

You can feel owner Terada’s wish for guests to take their time and enjoy the food throughout the restaurant.
Every dish was carefully made, and everything was even more delicious than we imagined~!!
We got to slowly enjoy delicious food and drinks, and it made us feel happy from lunchtime onward.
They also said they’d be happy for solo guests to casually enjoy something as simple as “pâté de campagne and a glass of wine,” so I might find myself sitting alone at the counter one of these days~😆
The Menu at “Bistro Détour”
Inside “Bistro Détour”
Apparently, the wall shown on the right side of the photo has the residents’ elevator running through it.

It works as just the right kind of partition, creating a semi-private room-like space.
That makes it reassuring even if you’re visiting with children.

In the middle of the restaurant is an impressive wine cellar. It makes you wonder what kinds of wines are waiting inside~.
