Welcome to “Miyacco Detective,” a section where readers can investigate Nishinomiya mysteries and feel like they’ve become detectives.Well, you basically are detectives. The idea is that articles will keep getting updated as soon as we receive tips from readers (Miyacco detectives).
Every day, @Nishi2 receives lots of tips and emails asking us to “please look into this.”
The @Nishi2 team is excellent, of course, but there’s only so much we can do on our own, so we’ve decided to ask our readers for help~(^o^)/

A Request for Miyacco Detectives
This time, our reader request comes from Parunasu-san.
About the rooftop neon sign for “Daido” that used to be right by Mondo-Yakujin Station”

Location: The Daido rooftop neon sign that used to be right near Mondo-Yakujin Station
Period: It was there until recently

The Daido neon sign was located here↓↓
The address is 4-53 Mondo Higashimachi, Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture.
Information from Miyacco Detectives
I think it changed to green at some point. Sorry if I’m remembering it wrong.
I’m one of the people who was shocked when I recently noticed it was gone.
I also feel like it may have been yellow a very long time ago… though I’m not certain.
The green sign felt fairly new to me, but I wonder if they won’t put up another sign anymore.
Before the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, Daido-san sometimes came to our house for maintenance, and during the earthquake, when my late grandmother contacted them, she was so happy that they came right away to cover our damaged roof with a blue tarp!
We would like to provide some information from the Daido Group.
Our rooftop neon sign had withstood many years of wind, snow, and earthquakes since its installation, but when it was inspected in connection with exterior wall renovation work, we found that age-related deterioration was severe. Repairs alone would not provide sufficient strength, so we decided to remove it, as we did not want to risk causing trouble for anyone in the event of a future natural disaster or other incident.
After reading the “Miyacco Detective” article, we were very pleased to know that the sign had been so warmly familiar to local residents.
All of our employees will continue working hard so that we can remain a company appreciated by the local community.

Amazingly, we received a photo showing what Wanko-san and Parsley Gonta Mama-san were talking about: “It used to be yellow a long time ago!” Miyacco detectives are incredible!
Investigation Summary
We received information that the Daido sign used to be yellow~
Since two people said, “Wasn’t it yellow?” it does seem pretty likely that it was!
A n d believe it or not! Believe it or not!
Believe it~~~!!!
To our huge and happy surprise, Daido-san directly provided us with informationーーーーー(^^)/
Unfortunately, the neon sign had deteriorated badly with age, and it was removed as a precaution in case something were to happen.
So it was a decision made for the sake of nearby residents and the community.
And then there was the story from Parsley Gonta Mama-san about how Daido-san came right away during the earthquake!
It really shows that Daido-san has always been close to us, a warm, locally rooted company that helps when people are in need~
Thank you very much to everyone who sent in information😃
Finally
We’re always casually waiting for messages like, “I want to share memories from back then,” or “Please look into that shop~”
So if there’s anything you’d like to ask, please feel free to contact the @Nishi2 detectives anytime.

I live nearby, and I liked the slightly retro feel of the vertical katakana Daido neon sign, which would glow almost divinely at night.
It had been covered with protective netting, so I figured construction work was going on, but once the netting came down and I realized the entire neon sign was gone, I was a little shocked.
I think the light used to turn off around 10:30, and when my child was still awake around the time it went off, I would use it like a clock and say, “Daido has already gone out, so you shouldn’t still be up!” I feel really sad that it’s gone.
