I went to the tonkatsu restaurant “Shukugawa Katsuki” in Shukugawa Green Place (^^)/
We previously featured their takeout, but this time I went and had it freshly fried!!!

What I Ate at “Shukugawa Katsuki”

Shukugawa Katsuki Plate \2,068 (tax included)
For this plate, you can choose your main and side dish, and it even comes with a large fried shrimp. So luxurious (*^-^*)
For the main, you can choose roast katsu or fillet katsu ← this time I chose roast
For the side, you can choose shrimp cream croquette or coarse-ground menchi katsu← I chose the cream croquette
And it’s generously topped with their homemade original demi-glace sauce !(^^)!

That crispy coating and plump shrimp just keep going and going. Pure happiness 😍
You can enjoy the fried shrimp with tartar sauce or with demi-glace sauce too~

The roast katsu looks like this (^^)/
Even though I came to a tonkatsu restaurant, this demi-glace sauce makes it feel almost like a Western-style yoshoku restaurant~
It’s crispy, and the meat is tender and juicy 😋
The just-right fattiness of the roast cut is really nice (*^-^*)
I couldn’t cut the cream croquette cleanly with chopsticks, so ↓

Freshly fried, it’s even more melty than this, and the flavor is rich!Cream croquette fans will love it (*^-^*)
I wanted to enjoy it just as it was, without any sauce! Even with sauce, the flavor still holds its own !(^^)!

Shrimp katsu, coarse-ground menchi katsu, fillet katsu, 16-grain rice, shijimi clam soup, cabbage, pickles
It came with ponzu in addition to the sauce (^_-)-☆

The sauce is the kind you make yourself by grinding sesame seeds!
It says, “A fruity and refreshing homemade secret sauce based on ripe tomatoes and apples!
We have carefully crafted it to bring out the flavor of the tonkatsu.” (^^)/

Look~(^^)/ at the cross-section of this coarse-ground menchi katsu!
The coarse-ground meat is juicy, and together with the onion it has such a crispy bite! Mixed with that sauce from earlier, it practically calls out for rice!

Shrimp katsu~ How much shrimp is packed in here? It looks like the shrimp is about to spill out!!
It makes you want to line up the pieces and count them~
The plump texture of the shrimp stays intact while blending perfectly with the crispiness (*^-^*) It also went well with the ponzu!
The fillet katsu was so crispy that the coating stood up sharply! The meat was tender and light, yet full of flavor~
It paired really well with the restaurant’s recommended sauce (^^)/

In Closing
The katsu at Shukugawa Katsuki is fried in an original blend of oil, so it doesn’t feel greasy at all or sit heavily in your stomach. The crispy texture is the kind you’ll get hooked on (*^-^*)
The fact that rice, cabbage, and miso soup are all refillable also makes it a great place to visit with a hungry, growing family!
