Breakfast at Tomiya Shokudo Where You Can Choose Side Dishes from the Display Case After 65 Years in Business

I was searching for somewhere to eat breakfast in Nishinomiya, and this place came up～😀

御食事処 富屋食堂 in Kusugawa

I went right away, and it turned out to be a warm, lively spot run together by a grandpa, grandma, and their grandchild～ in all kinds of ways, this place had real heat and heart.

What makes it so great? You can choose whatever side dishes you like from the display case～(^^)/

Personally, I absolutely love this kind of setup, but you don’t come across it very often。。。

Japanese-style buffet⁉ Everything looked so tempting that I definitely ended up taking too much.

Simmered sardines, dashimaki tamago rolled omelet, pork miso soup, grated daikon with whitebait, potato salad, tempura, plus a large bowl of rice and a small bowl of rice
All that came to 1,560 yen～

This is the “small” rice size😂

Size-wise, it feels like small = regular, regular = large, and large = mega～

They also have a “half” rice size, so if you want something small, “half” might be the way to go.

My first reaction was, “That’s huge!!” It’s the kind of portion even a hungry high school boy would have no complaints about.

The food has that wonderful homemade feel, comforting and nostalgic😄

Oh, and when I picked up some potato salad from the display case,

the grandpa came from the back of the shop and said,
“We’ve got freshly made potato salad now, eat this one instead～” and brought out a fresh serving. Such a heartwarming place😊

The grandma was great at chatting and casually asked, “Where did you come from～?” The grandchild came over to talk too. It felt like coming back to the countryside, with both the flavors and the warmth of the people sinking right in～
