It’s gotten quite cool lately, but when I heard that the coffee shop “BUNDY BEANS” in Kurakuen-guchi was serving “coffee shaved ice” for a limited time, I rushed over to try it before it was gone.
What exactly is “coffee shaved ice” made by a coffee shop like?

Exterior of “BUNDY BEANS”
It’s located along the Hankyu Koyo Line tracks between Kurakuen-guchi and Koyoen.

Inside “BUNDY BEANS”

There’s a counter at the front, and behind it is the roasting area with a large roasting machine.

Several varieties of house-roasted coffee beans are lined up on the counter. The characteristics of each bean are clearly explained.

They also have caffeine-free decaf, good for pregnant customers or for drinking before bed.

There are also blends named after local areas, like “SHUKUGAWA BLEND” and “KURAKUEN BLEND.”

On the left as you enter is a retail corner with drip coffee, café au lait base, and more.

They also sell gifts and coffee equipment.

The café seating area is on the right as you enter.
“BUNDY BEANS” Menu

They have kids’ coffee and 100% apple juice, so it’s a coffee shop children can enjoy too.

The menu for “coffee shaved ice” and “fruit coffee.” The combination of fruit and coffee sounds intriguing too.
“Coffee Shaved Ice” Made by a Coffee Shop

This is the small size. The total came to 702 yen, including tax.

From above, all you can see is whipped cream.

It has four layers: whipped cream on top, coffee shaved ice, vanilla ice cream, and finally coffee jelly at the bottom.
The whipped cream is firm and springy, and not too sweet. I really liked both the texture and the flavor.
Next, the fluffy shaved ice has a sweetness reminiscent of nuts and chocolate, with a bit of acidity here and there. That acidity mixes nicely with the vanilla ice cream in the next layer, and at the end there’s the grown-up flavor of coffee jelly with a completely different texture!! I didn’t get tired of it at all until the very end!! It was delicious all the way through!!

It looks like the shaved ice is scheduled to be available until the end of September, so if you’re interested, hurry!!
And if you buy coffee beans here↓↓
Purchases of 1,000 yen or more qualify for a free takeout drink or drip bag!!
For this gift, they intentionally choose a slightly lighter coffee for customers who buy fuller-bodied beans, and a fuller-bodied coffee for customers who buy cleaner, lighter beans. It seems this comes from the owner’s wish for people to discover as many coffee flavors as possible.

Since I was there, I bought some coffee beans for home and left with a takeout coffee.
