Hyogo Prefecture will apparently be selling “Habatan Pay+,” a great-value premium digital gift certificate that can be used at supermarkets, retail stores, and more.

Applications are scheduled to open in August.
The certificates are expected to be usable from September through February 2024.
Each 5,000 yen digital gift certificate can apparently be used as 6,250 yen worth through an app called “Habatan Pay+”.
Even better, households raising children age 18 or younger can use it as 7,500 yen worth!
※ From Hyogo Prefecture’s FY2023 June Supplementary Budget Proposal
The purchase limits are reportedly:
General category (5,000 yen → 6,250 yen): up to 4 units per person
Child-rearing category (5,000 yen → 7,500 yen): up to 2 units per household
Even buying just one unit in the general category feels like a pretty good deal 😊

It’s part of an emergency economic policy to support household budgets.
Prices really have been going up on all kinds of things!
In Closing
It’s still in the planning stage, so details like which stores will accept the gift certificates and when they will go on sale do not seem to be finalized yet.
Applications are expected to start in August, so we’ll have to make sure not to forget! Note to self 💦
