The platforms on the Kobe Line at Nishinomiya-kitaguchi Station are being raised.
(This information was provided by Kuma-san and Kagayaki 509-go, Nishitsu supporters. Thank you!)
Here↓

It looks like platforms 1 to 4 on the Kobe Line are being raised.

The platforms are apparently being made higher to eliminate the step when boarding trains. Door heights differ depending on the type of train, but once the work is finished, the step is expected to be 3 cm or less for any train. This is apparently to comply with standards set by the national government.

Can you see it?
It looks like rubber strips are being installed to make the gap between the train and platform smaller, helping passengers get on and off more safely.
So this construction is part of the work to install movable platform barriers.

Because of this, the vending machines on the Kobe Line platforms had also been removed.
So we’ll post some photos from when the vending machines were still there as an archive.

Apparently there was a snack vending machine here, and the public phone is gone too.

A Seventeen Ice vending machine. This one may have been a lifesaver for moms with kids. Though now that it’s getting cold, maybe not so much

I wonder what will happen with the vending machines from here on. It would be nice if they came back. Hanshin Nishinomiya Station had quite a lively setup.
Lastly
For passengers, reducing steps and narrowing the gaps to make boarding and getting off safer is a reassuring improvement. The construction will probably continue for a while, but if anything else changes, we’ll write about it again.
