In search of Nishinomiya specialties… Today I picked up “Hiyashi Shiratama Shiruko” from 桔梗堂!(^^)!
The shop’s exterior has a historic feel (it was founded in 1945), and there was also a sign for the “summer tradition, Shiratama Shiruko.”A summer tradition…^_^;←Previously, it was only sold in July and August, but now the sales period has been expanded from around April through November.Yay(^^)

Here is the “Shiratama Shiruko”↓↓↓ On the lid, “Shiratama Shiruko” is written with playful kanji as “白珠知故”!The price of one Shiratama Shiruko was \305 (2019・10・17)

There were two melt-in-your-mouth shiratama dumplings inside(^^) The shiruko had a rich sweetness, but the aftertaste was clean, making it feel like you could eat several of them. It has the delicious, genuine flavor of real azuki beans, so much so that even people who aren’t big fans of wagashi or anko might want to give it a try!!

I was a little curious, so I also bought a wagashi called “球宴” (a smooth red bean paste with chestnuts and sesame wrapped in gyuhi, then sandwiched between monaka wafers shaped like a baseball).
It was a sweet with a deep, layered sweetness(^^) The baseball shape might make it just right as a Koshien souvenir!(^^)! The price of one 球宴 was \189 (2019・10・17)

Believe it or not! Both “Shiratama Shiruko” and “球宴” were introduced in the “Rediscovering Anko” feature in the 2019・11 issue of “サライ”!(^^)!
And! “Shiratama Shiruko” has been selected as a return gift for Nishinomiya City’s hometown tax donation program! Wonderful~(^_^)/~
