In Japan, we have “Sakana-kun,” who knows a ton about fish, and “Kawachan,” the fish-loving big brother!
Kawachan came to the Miyakko Festival in Nishinomiyahama last year. He is the “fish big brother” who shares fascinating stories about fish at places around Nishinomiya, including Nishinomiya Shrine and Nishinomiya Gardens.
That Kawachan was at Nishinomiya City Hall about a week ago. In the middle is Furuno Electric President Furuno, and next to him is Mayor Ishii.
So why was he at Nishinomiya City Hall…?
Kawachan and the president of Furuno Electric paid a courtesy visit to report on that.

These are fish that live in Nishinomiya. There are this many kinds! The dolphin-like one is called a finless porpoise, and apparently it lives in the waters off Nishinomiya.
Come to think of it, a ray showed up in Shukugawa last September lol Apparently they usually live in Nishinomiya’s waters too, though they don’t seem to be especially tasty.
And it seems Nishinomiya also has fish that are “fun to catch and delicious to eat.”

These fish do not just stay in Nishinomiya’s waters; they swim around from all kinds of places, which apparently makes them “really delicious.” They’re called migratory fish.
Apparently, you can catch those delicious fish at the Nishinomiyahama caisson.
Around this time of year, if you scatter live shrimp, you can catch small Japanese sea bass.
