Wagashi Shop Shogetsudo Near Koshienguchi Sells “Sazare-ishi”

Shogetsudo(しょうげつどう), a traditional Japanese sweets shop on Suzuran-dori in Koshienguchi, is selling “Sazare-ishi”.

It looks like a kohakuto-style sweet sold as a summer-only item. Small: 854 yen (tax included), large: 1,566 yen (tax included).

“Sazare-ishi” means small pebbles, and it appears in the lyrics of Japan’s national anthem, “Kimigayo.”

Sazare〜 ishi no〜 iwao(rock) to〜 narite〜

It’s considered auspicious as a symbol of growth and prosperity, so it would probably make a lovely gift too〜😊

Shogetsudo also seems to have other summer-only items available right now〜↓
