A Look at the Kura Biraki

Shachomi arrived around 10:30, about 30 minutes after opening.
The area was full of people walking toward the Kura Biraki〜

Steam billowing away〜〜

At the entrance. The event is on until 15:00〜

Right in front after entering. So many visitors! We were worried about the cold today, but the weather is nice and it’s surprisingly warm in the sun〜🤗As of 13:30, it’s a snow flurry〜😂

Maybe because we arrived about 30 minutes after it started, it didn’t feel like there were any huge lines〜😃

But the standing-drink area was pretty packed with visitors〜. There were also a few people with children here and there〜

Straight ahead was the much-talked-about Kura Biraki limited-edition sake〜

It’s “New Hakushika Lab”〜

Apparently, it’s a sake developed by Hakushika’s younger employees. It has a lower alcohol content and a fresh, new kind of flavor aimed at younger people and beginners〜🍶

And guess what! A Nishitsu reader who had bought some sake said “Have some〜” and shared it with Shachomi〜! Thank you so much〜!!

You can also take photos with Hakushika-chan🦌〜📸
Here are the other paid tasting menu items↓

According to the reader who spoke to us, ①, the freshly pressed new sake ginjo unfiltered namagenshu, was outstanding😊

Here are the prices〜

This is the paid tasting booth. There are about six reception counters, so it looked like purchases would go pretty smoothly〜

Behind the reception area, lots of sake is ready and waiting〜

Hm? What’s that tank-like thing?

This seems to be a tank used in sake brewing, but today it’s filled with hot water and visitors are welcome to use it to warm their hands🙌
Seriously, it’s so warm you won’t want to leave〜〜

The food sales area! There weren’t really lines for the paid tastings, but the food had a decent line going, maybe around 11:00.

Sushi, which pairs perfectly with sake! Daiki Suisan is here〜

There was all kinds of nigiri and makizushi. As of 11:00, there was still plenty left. Last year, they sold out toward the end, so it might be better to line up early〜

From Izakaya Yorozu, there were dashimaki and simmered sardines. You can’t go wrong with that〜

There was also amazake, edamame, and kasujiru. The kind of food that warms you right up〜

From Higashitsuru, there were snack-type nibbles, yawaragi-mizu, plus soft drinks like coffee, tea, and juice.
Grilled ray fin over a shichirin stove would be amazing with sake〜

The standing-drink area in the back looked like this too.

It was almost completely full,

and there were lots of people drinking while sitting on the ground〜

Next to New Hakushika Lab, there were lots of illustrations that looked familiar!

That’s right, Takahashi Poruchina, who designed this year’s Kura Biraki poster, was there〜!

They were selling cute tote bags with that limited Kura Biraki design〜 Limited quantities!
