It looks like an issue is affecting almost all Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation branches in the Nishinomiya area.
Quoted from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation
The Nishinomiya branches currently affected are as follows:
- Nishinomiya Branch
- Koshienguchi Branch
- Shukugawa Branch
- Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Branch
- Koto Branch
In other words, the ATMs are unavailable. On top of that, SMBC Direct (online banking) and related services are also currently down for customers with accounts at these branches.
The Koshien Branch was not listed. So maybe it’s okay…?
Also, the following Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation ATMs are down as well:
- Imazu Sub-branch
- Frente Nishinomiya Sub-branch
- Nishinomiya Marina Park City Sub-branch
- Kurakuen-guchi Station Front Sub-branch
- Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station South Sub-branch
- Nigawa Station Front Sub-branch
- Nishinomiya-Najio Station Front Sub-branch
💡Temporary support for those who need cash
For those with accounts at branches where the ATMs are down, it seems that temporary cash withdrawals are available at the following three locations until 17:00 today.
The nearby locations are below (they’re still fairly far, but given the situation, there isn’t much choice…)
- 🏢 Osaka Head Office Business Department Map
- 🏢 Abeno Branch (3rd floor, Ginsen Tennoji Building) Map
- 🏢 Kobe Business Department Map
Here’s what you need to bring✔️
・The cash card for the eligible account
・Identification documents (driver’s license, My Number Card, etc.)
Please note that you won’t be able to withdraw cash without these.
Since it’s Golden Week, it would be pretty upsetting to go to the bank and find out you can’t withdraw money, so please check the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation website before heading out.
