In the clear morning air, kids are energetically chasing balls around the Nishinomiya City Central Gymnasium Tennis Courts.
Some kids are so hooked they’re saying things like, “I get so excited I can’t sleep from the night before!” This popular junior tennis class is accepting participants again this fall.
Parents who want their children to get some exercise, take note.

Just 6,000 yen for half a year = basically 500 yen per lesson
The second term (October to March) includes 12 sessions for 6,000 yen (tax included). There are no make-up lessons for rain cancellations, but you can still get proper lessons for just 500 yen per session.
Plus, classes run for 90 minutes from 7:15 to 8:45 in the morning. By the time they’re done, it’s still morning, so you can easily make plans for the rest of the day.
What’s so great about tennis?
We asked about the unique benefits of tennis.

- It builds a strong foundation for athletic ability!
Tennis is a full-body sport that involves running, stopping, hitting, jumping, and making quick decisions. It’s perfect for the golden age of development (ages 9-12)! - Kids naturally learn manners and etiquette
Greetings like “Thank you for practicing with me!” and “Thank you very much!” before and after matches and practice are part of the basics. It’s nice that kids can develop cooperation and good manners, too. - It’s fun both individually and as a team
As an individual sport, it helps build concentration, and when playing doubles, kids also learn how to cooperate with a partner.
No experience needed! Kids improve at their own pace with balls suited to their level
“My child isn’t very athletic. Is that okay?”
→ Absolutely!

They start with soft, easy-to-hit balls and gradually step up from there. Coaches give careful instruction while cherishing that “I did it!” feeling.
A fun, smile-filled time where kids can make friends, too
Even if they’re different ages or go to different schools, everyone here is a fellow tennis friend.

After practice, it’s always memorable to see kids leaving the court with smiles, saying “I want to come again next time!”
