This year, the “Honwaka Shopping Street Pedestrian Paradise” in Koshienguchi was held again on September 27, so we went to check it out!
Here’s what the whole area looked like. It was lively again this year.
Here it is on the map↓
The address is 3-chome Koshienguchi, Nishinomiya.

Opening

The opening kicked off with a parade! The members of the “Kam Koshien Junior High School Wind Ensemble” made their appearance. They’re a powerhouse group that won the Gold Award at this year’s Kansai Branch Wind Ensemble Competition.
After the parade, a fire truck followed along.
Curry Udon Koshien
At the “3rd Curry Udon Koshien” held by the Japan Curry Udon Association, “RAT★RACE” from Kurakuen-guchi and “Umaimonya Hare” from Kotoen were selected, so they received awards!
A Gorilla Appeared!
A gorilla suddenly appeared in the lively shopping street!
Shachomi and Chochomi got attacked.
The dinosaur even tried to bite Mayor Ishii. Tough opponent.
The dinosaurs will return to Koshienguchi again on October 19.
Nishi2 Booth
From “Nishinomiya Tsushin,” we sold the “Shachomi Original T-shirt” available at RAT★RACE!
Many people wore them, including Yoshito Kawamura, Chairperson of the Nishinomiya City Council.
For those who thought, “I couldn’t buy one…” they’re currently on sale at “RAT★RACE” in Kurakuen-guchi! They come in “black” and “white,” with a wide range of sizes from S to XL.
All Kinds of Shops
At the venue, there were Turkish kebabs,
baby castella cakes and frozen mandarins,
and the wagyu beef offal was so popular there was a line.
Singer-songwriter Aimi was there too! The gorilla was really getting into it too.
Wrapping Up with Awa Odori
The finale was the annual “Awa Odori” dance!
“Osaka Tensuiren,” and in Awa Odori, dance groups are called “ren.”
This is “Itami Miyukiren.” And then…
It was “Kobe Nankoren”! Every ren gave a performance on par with Tokushima’s selected top groups.
Finally
The annual “Honwaka Shopping Street Pedestrian Paradise.” This year was packed with delicious food and fun events again! Because of the traffic restrictions, this is the only day of the year when Hanshin buses arriving at and departing from Koshienguchi Station run on an irregular route. We hope next year’s pedestrian paradise will be just as full of things to enjoy!
