Actually, on November 23, an unprecedented event was held at “Nishinomiya Kita High School / Nishinomiya Kurakuen High School.”
A sacred site opened to the public!?
That’s right. “Nishinomiya Kita High School / Nishinomiya Kurakuen High School,” the one sacred site from the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, set in Nishinomiya, that fans normally can’t enter, was opened “for one day only” for Haruhi fans!
The event announcement was so earth-shattering that many Haruhi fans were shaken, with people saying things like, “Really!?” and even, “There’s an application page, but it’s not a phishing site, right?”
Of course, it wasn’t a lie. It was real!
So, we snuck inside the one sacred site that had never been opened to the public: “Nishinomiya Kita High School / Nishinomiya Kurakuen High School”!

What It Was Like at Entry
This is the schoolyard. It appears in many scenes, including Episode 1 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. On the day of the event, after checking in, participants waited here.
A student fired everyone up, shouting, “Are you all excited!?” and “Huh? I still can’t hear you!” That got us participants hyped up too.
“Have a great time!”
After the explanation was over, they waved us off. And with that, our Kita High exploration began!

At this seat, where everyone wanted to sit, the PTA president was offering a photo service. Fans were thrilled by the extra-generous service: more than six photos per person from the angles they wanted.
Music Room (Main Building 4F)
The music room that appears in Episode 1 of the anime. Third-year members of the brass band and their advisor were practicing for a hastily arranged “guerrilla live performance.”

Here is the actual rehearsal performance. The view and the music matched the scene so perfectly that, as a fan, it was just amazing.
Staircase Leading to the Rooftop (Main Building 4F)
This staircase is normally off-limits even to students. It also appears in the important scene where the unofficial club, the “SOS Brigade,” is formed.
It was faithfully recreated, including the sculpture brought over from the art room. (C)2006 Nagaru Tanigawa・Noizi Ito/SOS Brigade
Hallway in Front of the Faculty Room (Main Building 2F)
The spot overlooking the student entrance from in front of the faculty room is one of the places Haruhi fans love most.
The student entrance appears in many scenes, including Episode 1, Episode 5, the ending theme, and the movie The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. For Kurakuen High School students, it may be an everyday place, but for fans, it’s incredibly exciting.(C)2006 Nagaru Tanigawa・Noizi Ito/SOS Brigade
“The Haruhi drawing that used to be here (from 2022 onward) was erased, so I drew this one a few months ago!”
The student who had been playing trombone in the music room told us this cheerfully.
In front of the faculty room, the school also carefully displays “the autograph of Minori Chihara, who voices Yuki Nagato,” and “the autograph of So Taguchi, a Kita High graduate.”
Middle Building
SOS Brigade Clubroom
On the 4th floor of the Middle Building, the SOS Brigade clubroom had been recreated.
This is the seat of Haruhi Suzumiya, leader of the SOS Brigade. The computer seems to have been brought from the computer room. Seriously, what era is that computer from? lol
The refrigerator was brought from the music room on the 4th floor of the Main Building. Since the only access is by stairs, seriously, thank you for all the hard work…
Haruhi’s uniform was brought in from the Literature Club, and the sun decoration was recreated by first-year students at Kurakuen High School while watching the anime.
Inside the clubroom, the original Haruhi novels were on display. Of course, Kita High’s library has the complete set.
This was the message board from Haruhi fans. Hopefully the message reaches Malaysia too.
Outside the School Buildings

Everyone’s pointing their phones at it!

On the day, there was someone cosplaying as Haruhi,
and there were also students recreating the scene where members are recruited, calling out, “Would you like to join the SOS Brigade?”
And Then, the Final Moment
As evening gradually approached and the event was nearing its end, an announcement suddenly came over the speakers.
“The brass band will now perform a Haruhi song in the music room. Everyone, please come to the music room!”
Everyone gathered in the music room. Roughly 60 people packed the room to capacity.
At the front were the third-year brass band students who had been practicing earlier. They had completed the Haruhi song and performed it for us.
Here is the performance from that moment ↓
The song was “Yasashii Boukyaku.” It plays at the end of the movie The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. The sunset over the Seto Inland Sea seen from the 4th floor of the Main Building and the song’s
