As Madoka-san was strolling along the Shukugawa River, he couldn’t stop wondering about the labels attached to the pine trees along the riverside!

For those of us from a certain generation, seeing something like a paper talisman instantly brings jiangshi to mind😂It’s not a talisman, it’s a label

Madoka-san was so curious about this tag that he ended up contacting City Hall.
The person who responded was Nanbu-san from Nishinomiya City Hall😀
Here’s the response from City Hall↓↓
- Nishinomiya City carries out “trunk injection” work to help prevent pine wilt
- Labels are attached to pine trees that have received trunk injections
- The labels show the “trunk injection date” and the “measured tree diameter”
Sure enough, there’s something that looks like a date, and in the bottom field it says 50cm.
But there’s also the number “8” written in the middle, and in the tree diameter section there’s something that looks like “8 bottles”.
So @nishi2 contacted the Greenery Conservation Section to ask again😀

It turns out the label lists the “trunk injection date,” “tree number,” “number of chemical bottles,” and “tree diameter”!
Mystery solved, and now we can relax～
We ended up looking into it in more detail than Tonari no Ningen Kokuhou-san did (^_^)

Apparently, over a period of five years, chemicals are injected and the tree diameters are measured in order to protect the pine trees.
The pine trees gradually grow little by little, so their diameters apparently get slightly larger too.
So this is how the pine trees along Shukugawa are being protected～
