The “Nishitsu Survey (Temporary)” corner, where we turn a quick question for readers plus the results of the previous question into an article 👏
(Hiratsu runs surveys too. This is a respect project for Hirakata Tsushin.)
This article is brought to you by “GenkiStyle,” a foot treatment clinic that supports Nishitsu.
The previous survey was
“Where did you move to Nishinomiya from?”

Survey period: February 12 to February 17
Number of responses: 113
We received as many as 113 responses 😀
There were comments from all kinds of perspectives, so tallying them up was a lot of fun.
Thank you very much (^_^)

If it’s a neighboring city, you might already pass through Nishinomiya by train or car in everyday life, and you probably have some sense of the city’s atmosphere, so it may feel easier to move here without much hesitation.
There were also many people who moved from our neighboring prefecture, Osaka, which somehow made me a little happy. I wonder why

“Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi” and “Shukugawa/Kurakuen-guchi” are names that often show up in livability rankings and the like, so people may feel like they sort of know them already. Plus, they have the image of being convenient for transportation, with limited express trains stopping there, so that might be why many people choose them as places to move to.
Also, having commercial facilities like “Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens” and “LaLaport Koshien” nearby may be another reason people choose where to move.
For comments about things like “things, places, customs, or episodes that surprised you after moving to Nishinomiya,” there were things you might not notice if you already live in Nishinomiya, and while reading the comments I probably said “Huh, really?” about ten times. People who moved to Nishinomiya may find themselves nodding along like, “Exactly!”
I was surprised that the city doesn’t have designated garbage bags.

It’s close to both the mountains and the sea, not as crowded as the city, and has a good environment. I moved here for a job transfer, ended up staying permanently, and 20 years have passed.

On my first day after transferring schools, everyone touched the randoseru backpack I brought because it was unusual. About 40 years ago, it seems randoseru backpacks weren’t used much at elementary schools in Nishinomiya.

As a child I lived in Hamakoshien, then moved around for work transfers to Osaka, Yokohama, and Kobe. After that, I remembered Nishinomiya as the best place I had lived, so when I got married I moved back. After I returned, the mascot character “Miyatan” had been created, and I was even more surprised that there was a Miyatan Ondo dance. Also, the batting center by Nanbu Bridge closed and became an empty lot.

The convenience store from the Glico-Morinaga case was here! (It has moved now.) There are no ampere restrictions on electricity contracts! (Is that a Kansai thing?!) Grave of the Fireflies was here too?! The Lucky Man race is here too…? The concentration of sake breweries is incredible.

① Maybe because the roads are old, even national and prefectural roads have narrow lanes and feel scary. ② The alleys in residential areas are complicated, and I got lost… ③ A lot of people talk to you. Especially older people.
