If you know this, you can prove you’re a Nishinomiya expert in our “Nishinomiya Quiz” corner.
Here’s today’s quiz↓
Q. How do you read this town name? “弓場町”

The Nishi2 correct answer rate is 80%.

This is where Sasō Hospital, a general and emergency hospital, is located.(Maybe this one is hard to read too?? So we’ll quiz you on the hospital name below as well.)
The answer is “Yuba-chō.”
The Origin of Yuba-chō
Long ago, there were rice fields belonging to Susanoo Shrine here, and the place where a Shinto ritual was held to divine whether the harvest would be good or bad using a bow became the local place name, eventually becoming the current name.
Yuba-chō is here on the map↓
The address is Yuba-chō, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Double Quiz: How do you read “笹生病院”?
From Muracchi on Twitter:
The hospital name shown earlier in the blog may be even harder to read.

So here’s a quiz!
Q. How do you read this hospital name? “笹生病院”

The Nishi2 correct answer rate is 100% (probably).
The answer is “Sasō Byōin.”
I’d guess there are actually quite a few people in Nishinomiya who can’t read it either??
The official Sasō Hospital website even provides the furigana reading.
From the official Sasō Hospital website
When I typed 笹生病院 on the keyboard, it came out as 誘う病院 (“inviting hospital”), and I was like, “Wait, what?” No wonder it doesn’t convert properly.
It’s here on the map↓
