“Wait, fish on pizza!?”

It might sound surprising, but this is seriously delicious!

Nishinomiya’s Furuno Electric is holding “FURUNO Blue Carbon Day,” an event where they’ll sell amazing menu items made with unused fish for a limited time as part of their environmental conservation activities. This time, you can enjoy a seafood rice bowl on December 9 (Mon) (←ended) and wood-fired pizza on December 17 (Tue).

The venue is Furuno Electric SOUTH WING.
Here it is on the map ↓
The address is 8-1 Jingikancho, Nishinomiya, Hyogo.
What kind of fish is the unused “aigo”?
Aigo is a fish that usually doesn’t make it onto the dinner table.

It’s often avoided because of its distinctive rocky-shore smell, but in some regions it’s actually said to be so tasty that people call it “aigo no neburi,” meaning it’s delicious enough to make you lick the plate.

This time, aigo is drawing attention as a “herbivorous pest fish.” It’s a troublesome fish that eats up seaweed beds, but now a new initiative has started to help protect the environment by eating it!
What is “blue carbon,” protecting the sea by eating?
To help prevent “isoyake (the desertification of the sea),” which is progressing due to global warming, efforts to protect seaweed are known as “blue carbon.”

Seaweed has the ability to absorb and store CO2, but apparently the problem is that chinu (black sea bream) and aigo eat it all up. By enjoying these “unused fish” as delicious food, we can help protect seaweed beds while also contributing to the environment.

12/9 Seafood Rice Bowl [at 鮪]
The seafood rice bowl uses “chinu (black sea bream).” (This has ended.)

(Note! This photo is of a tuna rice bowl.)
It’s hard not to wonder what kind of seafood rice bowl they’ll make with fatty, in-season chinu (black sea bream).
12/17 Wood-Fired Pizza [La Zucca di Napoli]
Pizza topped with aigo.

The moment you take a bite, you just can’t stop saying, “This is good!”

Believe it or not, La Zucca di Napoli’s kitchen car comes with its own pizza oven. Pretty rare, right?
