Nishi2 correct answer rate: 100%
If you haven’t seen the answer yet, take a guess!
So where exactly is this “pinnacle of katsudon”?
The person who ate this katsudon was Takeyuki Mayumi(まゆみたけゆき), who was visiting Nishinomiya while filming on location for Radio Osaka’s popular program 『真弓武之のおしゃれって言われたい』!
And what he ordered was…

(Photo shows the kakuni curry bowl)
Katsu curry egg bowl + kakuni topping + triple egg
That’s way too much!!!
The moment he took a bite, he said…
“The eggs are so fluffy…”
“The curry has an ankake-style thickness. The flavor is rich, but still gentle.”
“The kakuni is so tender, and the fat just melts in your mouth…”
And then…
“This is the pinnacle of katsudon.”
And then…
“I might have fallen into the triple-egg swamp.”
He’s completely hooked at this point🤣
The answer to this “pinnacle” restaurant is d. Takefuku!!

Beloved by locals, Takefuku was founded in Nishinomiya in 1970 and is a long-established katsudon specialty restaurant loved by the community for over 50 years!

It’s also pretty close to Gardens, so it’s perfect to stop by while you’re out shopping🙆♂️
That day, a miracle happened: one of the Takefuku staff members turned out to be a fan of Mayumi-san and even sang the lyrics “On My Me!” His reaction was this↓
“If I’m loved by a restaurant that’s loved by Nishinomiya, that means I’m loved by Nishinomiya too!”
Oh, and right now, Takefuku’s new products are being sold on the 1st floor of Nishinomiya Hankyu.

They’re sauces made with Takefuku’s dashi, available in two kinds: Worcestershire and miso. I want to try them with tonkatsu first.

Of course, they’re selling katsudon too.
He also stopped by Nishinomiya Gardens shortly before
By the way, on the day of this shoot, it seems Mayumi-san stopped by Gardens before Takefuku. And what impressed him there was…

“The walkways are wide, so I thought it must be comfortable for moms pushing strollers,” he said, unexpectedly looking at it from a mom’s perspective. Apparently he also said, “A lot of urban shopping complexes have narrow walkways and feel cramped, but this place feels open!”
Final Thoughts
If you’re a Nishinomiya local, the moment you hear “katsudon,” Takefuku probably comes to mind instantly. If you’re curious about Radio Osaka’s 『真弓武之のおしゃれって言われたい』, check it out on radiko.(Broadcast date: March 28, 2025)
