Hankyu Railway now lets you book wheelchair assistance online.
(Thanks to Kagayaki 509-go @ Nishitsu SP for the tip.)

It looks like the service started on April 24.

You often see staff working really efficiently so wheelchair users can board and get off smoothly, don’t you?
Quoted from Create a New Request
It looks like you can use it through a very simple booking screen.
Quick Overview of How to Use It
Register your name and email the first time. Create an account
Enter your boarding station, destination station, date and time, and the support you need. Here
The information is automatically shared with the station staff app → You receive a confirmation email
It’s smart that this removes the need for long back-and-forth conversations by phone or at the counter. When people request this kind of support, you often hear that they feel “kind of bad about asking,” so this seems like a really good thing.
Quoted from Passenger Assistance Technology | Transreport UK
This Hankyu service apparently uses “PA Passenger,” an assistance booking platform from the UK startup Transreport, marking its first introduction in Japan. It’s an impressive system that lets users book station staff assistance for boarding and getting off in advance online, 24 hours a day.
Finally
There are apparently around 250,000 assistance requests per year, and the aim is to reduce waiting times, communication errors, and accident risks, in addition to addressing the shortage of station staff. It seems to be the first initiative of its kind in Kansai. By the way, in the Kanto area, JR East has its own service called “JRE Odekake Support.” This should make things much more convenient for both people with disabilities themselves and those assisting them. As expected from Hankyu Railway.
*Kagayaki 509-go @ Nishitsu SP, thank you very much for the information!!
