The pond at Shukugawa Station was originally built little by little around 1970 by station staff on their days off, and the koi arrived at that time as well. After being affected by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the koi were once released into the Shukugawa River, but thanks to requests from station users, people can now once again see koi swimming there.
