Nishinomiya’s city flower is the “sakura” \(^o^)/
That’s why research on “sakura” is being carried out at the research center in Naruo-hama, Nishinomiya,
and so far, four original Nishinomiya cherry blossom varieties have been created (*^^)vAmazing!
And now, the fifth variety has been born ヽ(^o^)丿
Quoted from the Nishinomiya City website
- It’s a mame-zakura type cherry tree, and apparently it doesn’t grow very tall
- So it can be grown in a flowerpot
- It blooms around the same time as Somei Yoshino cherry trees (it flowers at about 1 meter tall)
- The tips of the buds are pale pink, and once they bloom, the flowers become almost white
- The flowers are medium to large double blossoms (while the plant is still small, some single blossoms may appear too)
- It seems you can keep it compact through pruning
Its nickname will be chosen by voting from among the candidates !(^^)!

Voting period
December 1–28, 2020
Results announcement
It looks like the results will be announced in City Administration News, on the website, and elsewhere
What’s more, among those who vote for the nickname that ends up being selected, 1 to 3 people will be chosen by lottery to receive a commemorative gift
