What is the litter-picking app “Pirika”?
It’s an SNS like Instagram or Facebook, but the only thing people post about is picking up litter.
You can leave comments and send “Thanks” instead of likes.

I tried using the litter-picking app “Pirika”
I’m heading out fully equipped with tongs, trash bags, and work gloves!
First time: Takagi Park
My first day of picking up litter was at Takagi Park.
I walked one loop around the park and posted this ↓

After I posted it, complete strangers immediately gave me “Thanks” (likes) and comments!
Second time: Araki no Mori Park
For my second time, I went to “Araki no Mori Park”, where Nishitsu once played tag.
I made one full loop around the park and posted this ↓
That day too, I received lots of Thanks and comments🙏
Third time: Benten Park
For my third time, I walked one loop around Benten Park.
While I was picking up litter, someone walking their dog called out, “Thank you for your hard work!” That made me happy!

After trying “Pirika”
Posting on the app boosts your motivation because people encourage you with “Thanks” (likes) and comments!
I picked up litter by myself, but because I could share it on Pirika, it didn’t feel like I was doing it alone.
So, as for the ranking result…
After just three days, I didn’t even come close😂

When you hear “picking up litter,” it’s hard to feel enthusiastic because it sounds like a hassle, but using the app gave me a surprising sense of accomplishment and connection with other people🔥
If I decide to do it every day, it’ll start to feel tough, so I think I’ll pick up litter and post whenever I take my child to the park or notice trash on the street!
