We’re announcing the results of the survey we ran the week before last, “When you think of famous people from Nishinomiya City, who comes to mind?” ♪ We received tons of very local comments about entertainers, athletes, and more.

He’s an actor from Minami-Koshien Elementary School who appeared in the morning drama Beppin-san, and I’ve also seen him perform as a musician at Nishinomiya Gardens.

I’m from Kyushu, but when I was watching TV back home, Takako Tokiwa said she went to Harukaze Elementary School in Nishinomiya. I remember thinking what a lovely name for an elementary school it was, and it really stuck with me. After I moved to Nishinomiya, I was strangely moved when I passed by Harukaze Elementary School.

She may not exactly be “from” Nishinomiya, but I was surprised to learn that Takako Tokiwa once lived here. It seems she transferred to Nishinomiya in elementary school, graduated from Nishinomiya Municipal Harukaze Elementary School and Nishinomiya Municipal Kamikoshien Junior High School, and then transferred while attending Nishinomiya Municipal Nishinomiya Higashi High School. When you look back, your elementary, junior high, and high school years are full of nostalgic memories, so I think Nishinomiya must be an indispensable place in Takako Tokiwa’s memories.

Apparently we went to the same elementary school! But we were in different grades, so unfortunately I never met her. The manager at the part-time job near my house apparently lives close to her, and happily says, “My house is near Aimyon’s, you know!” lol. As a local, it’s heartwarming and makes me happy to see Aimyon doing so well, with her concert at Koshien and her Kansai dialect on the radio. I’m cheering for her from her hometown!

Katsuhisa Namase
At a talk show for some Nishinomiya city anniversary event, he said he originally lived around Naruo, but his father moved the family to Namase on a whim, saying, “There’s a place called Namase in Nishinomiya City. How could we not live there?” His mother was a city council member, and he also shared a childhood story from when he lived in Nishinomiya: on his way home from school, he saw pushpins stuck into the eyes on his mother’s campaign poster, and it made him sad.
