The notice says, “The owner, who had been undergoing medical treatment since last month, has passed away. This came as a sudden shock to us, but after careful consideration, we have decided to close the restaurant. Thank you very much for your patronage over these 48 long years. August 23, 2023 .”

A Message from a Reader Who Provided Information
One fond memory is from when my second son had just gotten out of diapers and had an accident at the restaurant. The proprietress handled it kindly, smiling the whole time.
It makes me terribly sad to think I’ll never again see the owner’s hunched-over posture.

When these photos were being taken, men who appeared to be construction workers and salespeople kept arriving by car one after another. They seemed surprised when they saw the notice, and some were taking photos of it with their smartphones.
The fact that they continued serving delicious Chinese food right up to the end for 48 years makes this truly painful and sad news. We pray for the repose of the owner’s soul.
