The new izakaya “アニチキ” near Hanshin Nishinomiya, which we covered in a recent opening article, had its grand opening on November 1.
Since it’s an izakaya specializing in yakitori and fried chicken, chicken dishes must be their specialty.
For this izakaya feature, we visited the freshly opened “アニチキ.”

Challenge Start!
Of course, or maybe naturally, we started with this.
Kicking things off with an “Asahi Super Dry (medium)” (¥450)!
The “tsukidashi” appetizer is ¥300, including the seating charge.
This kimchi had sesame oil on it, giving it a rich aroma and making it really tasty.
Honestly, I could probably finish a whole beer with just this…
Since this is a yakitori and fried chicken place, the first thing to try had to be the fried chicken.
This is the “Fried Chicken Thigh” (¥450).
We’ll introduce the menu later, but you can choose from eight different seasonings.
This time, I went with the classic “salt and pepper.”
You dip the fried chicken into the salt and pepper served on a separate plate.
The fried chicken was very juicy, and I could really enjoy the flavor of the chicken.
Next time, I’d like to try another seasoning too.
For my second drink, I had a “Highball” (¥350).
Yakitori and fried chicken really go well with just about any drink…
After fried chicken, yakitori was definitely next…
So I ordered the “Chicken Horumon” (¥780).
Their yakitori is served in a “barayaki” style, meaning it’s grilled without skewers.
One serving is apparently about the same amount as four skewers.
That’s quite a generous portion.
This horumon was grilled with a special sauce, and that sauce was excellent.
For one final drink, I had a “Black Nikka” (¥380) on the rocks.
I was very satisfied with both the taste and the portions, but how much did the bill come to…?
Time for the announcement!
¥2,981!!
That was the total.
Pretty good, wouldn’t you say?
This place is enjoyable even if you go alone, but if you visit with a larger group, you can try chicken dishes with all kinds of different seasonings, so I think it would be even more fun.
Here’s what I ordered this time: tsukidashi appetizer (including seating charge), Asahi Super Dry (medium), Fried Chicken Thigh, Highball, Chicken Horumon, and Black Nikka (on the rocks).

One of the main features is that you can choose from various fried chicken seasonings.
They range from classic flavors to slightly unusual ones, so it could be fun to try a bunch of them.
They also have several course options, so it looks like a good spot for parties too.

Inside, there are both table seats and counter seats.

Since it just opened, everything is still shiny and new.
There are also some slightly larger tables, so it seems like it would work well even with a fairly large group.
