I had lunch at “洋食とワインのお店 土筆苑”, a Western-style restaurant and wine spot just north of Gardens(^^♪

The Restaurant Exterior

There was a line both before opening and when we came out!

Famous Beef Tongue Stew, Fried Shrimp & Hamburg Steak

Famous Beef Tongue Stew

When it’s brought to the table, it comes with a dome-shaped lid, and the staff opens it right there for you ← it feels a little fancy and special💓

As you’d expect from a signature dish, the meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender and cut into easy-to-eat pieces.

The roux at a yoshoku restaurant has a flavor you just can’t recreate at home! Of course, it was absolutely delicious🙂

Inside was smooth, creamy mashed potato too(^^♪

The lunch set comes with soup, salad, and your choice of bread or rice😊

The soup was corn soup, and the salad was served in a fluffy-looking mound. Under the baby greens was shredded cabbage, and the dressing had a light, refreshing taste.

The bread was French bread, served with olive oil instead of butter! Sorry, the bread didn’t make it into the photo^^;

Fried Shrimp & Hamburg Steak

The fried shrimp and hamburg steak are served together with the salad, rather than on a separate plate.

The hamburg steak was soft and juicy, and went perfectly with the demi-glace sauce!(^^)!

And there were two big fried shrimp!!!!! The shrimp came with plenty of tartar sauce! There was also another sauce on the side, though I forgot the name(^_^;)

The shrimp had a seriously springy, plump texture. And of course, they were crispy too!

Inside the Restaurant

Since this long-established yoshoku restaurant opened in 1973, the interior has a great atmosphere, but because it was full, the photo is mostly of the ceiling…(^_^;)

One thing that impressed me a little was that each table had a THERMOS tumbler and pot, so you could drink nicely chilled water anytime.

No water droplets dripping from your glass, and no need to call the staff over during your meal saying, “Excuse me, could we have some water?”

The tumbler looked like this↓

Lunch Menu

Maybe because they’re limited-time or limited-quantity items, here are the menu items not listed on Tsukushien’s website

Drink menu↓ Apparently they don’t offer after-meal coffee…

Final Thoughts

Tsukushien has been featured on TV many times.

They don’t take reservations for lunch, so I lined up before opening… It filled up right after they opened(^^ゞ(I lined up 15 minutes before opening on a Sunday)

But it was the kind of authentic yoshoku that’s worth waiting for.

The roast beef from this restaurant was also used in the croissant sandwich at オンコーアンマタン, which we visited before(^^♪

This time I went for lunch, but they had lots of wine lined up too, so I’d love to try dinner there as well!!
