See our Shukugawa lunch roundup here↓
This time we visited 「菓一條永久堂吉宗」, a wagashi shop with an attached cafe. As it turns out, the cafe also serves several food items.

We wanted to include it in our Shukugawa lunch feature, so we stopped by at lunchtime and tried the food.

Food at 「菓一條栄久堂吉宗」

This is their most popular item, the “Sekihan Gozen” (1,280 yen).

Here’s what it looks like when you open the lid.
The sekihan looks delicious.

This sekihan is apparently made with Dainagon azuki beans from Hokkaido.
The color comes only from the simmering liquid of the azuki beans, of course, and the glutinous rice was steamed just right. It was very tasty sekihan.
You can sprinkle gomashio on it to your liking.

These are the “side dishes of the day.”
They included items like “spinach ohitashi,” “dashimaki omelet,” “simmered hijiki,” “kamaboko,” and “candied sweet potato.”
Their main business is wagashi, but everything was really delicious.

These are the “homemade sesame tofu” and “osuimono” clear soup.
The sesame tofu had a wonderful sesame aroma, and the osuimono had a rich dashi fragrance. Both were very good.

A “mini mitsumame” is also included for dessert.
It comes with agar jelly and mitsumame topped with kuromitsu syrup, plus various fruits.
It really feels like a Japanese-style dessert.
We were able to enjoy a Japanese-style lunch all the way to the end.

If you order a meal, drinks are half price.
We ordered this “hot coffee.”
This cafe is particular about how it drip-brews its coffee, and we enjoyed a very delicious cup.
