“Bonten,” which opened last year in the shopping street near Hanshin Nishinomiya Station and was also featured in our opening article, is offering gyoza for takeout.
You can order them either uncooked or cooked, but this time we picked up some grilled gyoza and enjoyed them with a drink.
Gyoza always makes you want to drink, so we were looking forward to it.

Here are the “grilled gyoza.”
One serving (7 pieces) is 290 yen, and for takeout there is an additional 50 yen box fee.
This time we got two servings to go, so the total was 630 yen.
The defining feature of this shop is, without a doubt, its special miso sauce.
At the shop, you mix the special miso with vinegar, chili oil, and other seasonings yourself to make your preferred sauce, and of course they include this miso sauce with takeout as well.
In the shop, you can add more or less chili oil and vinegar to adjust it to your taste, but it might also be fun to try adding vinegar or chili oil at home and experiment a little.
When you think of gyoza, beer is probably the first drink that comes to mind, but having beer every time can get a bit repetitive, so we decided to try something else.
When we asked the staff, “What kind of drink goes well with gyoza besides beer?” they said, “Basically, I think anything goes well, but lately a lot of people have been drinking lemon sours.” So this time we went with this “lemon sour.”
The spiciness of the miso sauce on these gyoza really does pair well with the refreshing tartness and sweetness of the lemon sour.
The gyoza themselves are small and lightly seasoned, but the miso sauce and lemon sour seemed to bring out their flavor even more.
The drinks went down easily, and the gyoza were delicious too.
