We previously wrote about the takeout “kushikatsu bento” from kushikatsu restaurant “まるまん,” but as it turns out, they also serve lunch, which is a bit unusual for a kushikatsu place. (I often go there for drinks at night.)
Now that the COVID situation has settled down and their business hours are returning to normal, I went to try their lunch this time.

Kushikatsu “まるまん” Food
There are several set meal options, but since this is a kushikatsu restaurant, I figured I should go for the skewers. This time I ordered the “Kushikatsu Set Meal” (800 yen).
It’s a set meal with five chef’s-choice kushikatsu skewers, plus rice, miso soup, and a small side dish.

Since the selection is up to the restaurant, the items vary depending on the day, but they can accommodate you if there are foods you don’t like.
This time, the five skewers were shrimp, squid, sillago, pork loin, and beef chuck roll.
There’s salt and sauce, so you can dip them in whichever you prefer.
Of course, they’re fried after you order, so everything comes out freshly cooked.
If you order an eight- or ten-skewer course, they’ll fry and bring them out a few at a time.
Freshly fried really is the best way to enjoy kushikatsu.
Each one sealed in the flavor of the ingredient nicely, and they were juicy and very tasty.
You can add a drink to the lunch menu for an extra 50 yen.
I had a hot coffee after the meal.
It’s a little different from coming here for drinks at night; lunch has a relaxed, calm atmosphere.
