We picked up some Oriental sweets from 雪月菓, which had its grand opening on January 16\(^o^)/
This article is brought to you by smoothie specialty shop “chotto,” a supporter of Nishitsu.
What We Bought at “雪月菓”

Front: ~Kiwami~ Almond Tofu ¥330 (tax not included)
The owner’s top recommendation, this almond tofu is a dessert made with carefully selected ingredients! It has a clean, refreshing taste with no overpowering flavor, and the syrup made with Guihua Chenjiu (an osmanthus wine said to have been loved by Yang Guifei. The alcohol has apparently been cooked off.) works really well(^^)
The container lid turns into a saucer, making it an even more stylish dessert\(^o^)/
The owner says it’s “the second most delicious almond tofu in Japan!” By the way, number one is apparently the almond tofu at Ryutenmon in The Westin Tokyo, the kind you’d want to ride the Shinkansen just to eat^^;
Left: Taiwanese Castella fuwaSHUWARI \480 (tax not included)
Just like the name fuwaSHUWARI suggests, this castella lets you enjoy a fluffy “fuwa” texture and a light, airy “shuwa” feeling all at once(^^) Apparently it gets even more moist the next day!
It uses “longan honey” harvested in Taiwan, one of the world’s three major honey-producing regions, giving it a premium aroma you can only experience in this castellaヽ(^o^)丿
Back: Moon Tart (Hong Kong Pudding Tart) ¥280 (tax not included)
A crisp tart shell filled with jiggly pudding cream!
On top of the tart is osmanthus simmered in syrup, handmade by the ownerThe osmanthus flowers are tiny, and apparently each calyx was carefully removed one by one… sounds like a mind-boggling amount of work^^;
Right: Lychee Black Tea Baked Cheese (Basque Cheesecake) ¥350 (tax not included)
This cheesecake has a rich, full flavor, and apparently if you eat it together with the Taiwanese castella, it tastes like soufflé cheesecake!
Here’s the cross-section we’re all curious about(^^)↓

Inside “雪月菓”

There were cookies and teas featuring Oriental flavors like butterfly pea and roselle(*^^)v

Here’s what the display case looks like! That brûlée castella looks tempting…

Final Thoughts

The owner is a former Chinese cuisine chef. While considering opening either a ramen shop or a Chinese dessert shop, he encountered an incredible honey and decided to open a Taiwanese castella shopヽ(^o^)丿
This honey is amazing not only in price, but also in taste and aroma!!!
How about treating yourself to a blissful moment with Oriental desserts packed with the owner’s passion?\(^o^)/
I went ahead and requested my beloved pineapple cakes! I can’t wait for the day they show up in the shop!
