The World’s Smallest Art Museum Opens at Naruo-Mukogawajoshidai-Mae Station

A “Tiny Art Box for Everyone” has appeared in the clock tower in the plaza on the south side of Naruo-Mukogawajoshidai-Mae Station.

Tiny Art Box for Everyone

In October 2019, the area in front of the station changed dramatically with developments such as the former Naruo Station being elevated and renamed Naruo-Mukogawajoshidai-Mae Station, and the opening of the Mukogawa Women’s University Station Campus.

The Naruo United Residents’ Association, together with Mukogawa Gakuin and Mukogawa Women’s University, installed the “Tiny Art Box for Everyone” as part of their contribution activities for the Naruo area.

Made with celebratory chopstick sleeves, wood, LED bulbs, and other materials, it features the Naruo area spread across the floor, with a model Hanshin train running through it.

The art box measures 58.2 cm wide, 73.7 cm deep, and 89.7 cm tall, so you could call it “the world’s smallest art museum in front of a station.”

The works on display are created by art-related faculty members and students at Mukogawa Women’s University. In the future, they plan to develop it into a true “Art Box for Everyone” by inviting submissions from local residents, children, and others.
