I picked up some takeout from traditional Osaka sushi shop “Sane Matsu” in the Koshienguchi Honwaka Shopping Street (^o^)/

By the way, Osaka sushi is a type of sushi made by layering shrimp, sliced fish, and vinegared rice in a wooden mold, then pressing it into a square shape. It’s also called “oshi-zushi” or “hako-zushi”.
“Sane Matsu’s” “Osaka Fukusa Mori”

I love how neatly it’s wrapped in packaging paper (^o^)

Osaka Fukusa Mori ¥1,280 (tax included)
Inside are Osaka sushi classics: hako-zushi and fukusa-zushi.
By the way, a fukusa is a cloth used to wrap or cover gifts of money or valuables, and smaller ones are apparently called fukusa.

This fukusa-zushi is wrapped in fluffy egg and tied with mitsuba.
On a plate, it almost looks like cake (#^.^#)

Here’s what the inside looks like!
On top of sweet-vinegared lotus root, there’s grilled conger eel, chirashi sushi, and soboro on top, all wrapped in egg (*^^)v
The lightly sweet egg and the well-seasoned filling brought out the best in each other.

I lined up the hako-zushi.
It’s art when viewed from above, but it looks beautiful from the side too (*^^*)
The rice was packed tightly and had plenty of flavor. Shiitake mushrooms were tucked into the conger eel, and wood ear mushrooms were layered with the sea bream, adding a nice accent. It was seasoned so well you could eat it without soy sauce!
Even though egg and shrimp have different thicknesses as ingredients, they were finished off beautifully!!
And for good reason: apparently, preparing hako-zushi takes a lot of time, and the flavor really made that clear〜(^^)v
