“Nishitsu Survey (temp) (we might run another survey to decide this name too)” is a corner where we turn a “quick question for readers + results from the previous question” into an article👏 Updated every Friday at 8 p.m.
(Hiratsu runs surveys too. This is a project inspired by Hirakata Tsushin.)
This article is brought to you by “chotto,” a smoothie specialty shop that supports Nishitsu.

Survey results for “Which park in Nishinomiya did you often play at when you were little?”
Let’s get into it.
Because there was a big slide in the middle of the park.
Woman in her 40s
When I was little, my parents would take me there with our dog, but the dog would charge ahead on the steep path and I could barely keep up.
Man in his 40s
Every now and then, there were kids who climbed up the wisteria trellis and couldn’t get down. I have fun memories of playing on the playground equipment too, but the most exciting thing was definitely playing dodgeball with classmates!
Woman in her 50s

At Araki no Mori, I played full-speed tag just like Nishitsu did. That slide is scary, but it’s fun. At Noma Minami, I played inside the concrete pipes.
Teenage woman
The festivals were fun.
Woman in her 30s
It’s where I first managed to do a backward knee circle on the horizontal bar.
Woman in her 30s

I was speeding around on my bike and crashed into my brother. A traffic accident. Sorry, even though it was Traffic Park.
Woman in her 20s
Croquettes from the butcher shop next door were my snack!
Woman in her 30s
I have photos from Hamaebisu Park from when I was a baby as I grew up! This is where I practiced riding a unicycle and a bicycle too! I still pass through it every day on my commute!
Woman in her 30s

I went there a lot from when I was little. We’d challenge each other to see who could swing the highest, play with water balloons, play in the sandbox… On the back side? there were wooden desks and chairs, and I remember making all kinds of things there too.
Woman in her 30s

A dog bit me on the butt ^^;
Man in his 50s
●Tatsumi Park: It was near my home when I was little, and I often went there to play. ●Abiki Park: I played there while waiting when I tagged along with my mother while she shopped. ●Suitengu Park: It was near the house we moved to when I was in elementary school, and I practiced handstands there. ●Apartment complex park: A park on the grounds of our apartment complex. I became friends with a grandchild visiting a nearby home in the complex (a kid I didn’t know) and we played together.
Woman in her 40s
My home was right near Hirota Elementary School, so I played in the schoolyard every day, but the farthest area in the school district was Takamatsucho and Ryodocho, so when I played with friends from that side, it was often at Ryodo Park.
Man, 60 or older

I buried my glasses in the sandbox and lost them.
Woman in her 40s
There were lots of playground structures that would be considered dangerous now, like a spinning tower and swing-type seesaws. I never got hurt on the equipment, though.
Woman in her 50s
Noto Ground, which now charges a fee, used to be called Chibikko Hiroba. Back then, you could play there freely, practice on the swings or your bike, and run around as much as you wanted.
Man in his 40s

I grew up in Nishinomiya and now live in Tokyo, but I still remember Hinoke Civic Pool and the giant slide at Horaku Park.
Man in his 40s
Back then there wasn’t a fence around it, so I climbed onto the base of the Gimin Monument (sorry).
Man, 60 or older

I loved the long slide. I liked the spaceship-like playground equipment, and it’s still there now, with children playing on it. The cherry blossoms were beautiful too, and a fond memory is having a family hanami picnic at Horaku Park instead of Shukugawa.
Woman in her 30s
I often used it to practice dancing with friends! (Because not many people came there.)
Teenage woman
I don’t think this would be possible today, but I once went into the indoor practice area at Nishinomiya Stadium and watched that day’s starting pitcher throw from right behind the net. (The pitcher was Yoneda.)
Man in his 50s
When there was keirin racing at Nishinomiya Stadium, it was packed with old guys smelling of booze. When I was at Kawaragi Elementary School, the Hanshin Expressway was built in front of the school. The construction was incredible〰🌸
Woman, 60 or older

Because I could race against my friends on bicycles.
Man in his 40s
Before the earthquake, I played in the open space. After the earthquake, temporary housing was built there, so we couldn’t play anymore. When the temporary housing was removed and the open space came back, I was overwhelmed with emotions I couldn’t put into words.
Man in his 30s
We played baseball in such a narrow place.
Man in his 50s
I remember practicing riding a bike at Futami Park, and back then there was water flowing through something like a small stream? so we played there too. At Koshienguchi Kita Park, it’s like a flower bed now, but in the old days you could go into the empty lot? next to it, and I used to catch bugs there.
Man in his 30s

We often played a game called “antlion” on the huge slide. There were different open areas and woods, so it was fun to explore.
Woman in her 30s

I often went there for the summer festival.
Man in his 30s
This was when I lived in Koshien Sanbancho. We played baseball a lot. Looking at it now, I wonder how we managed to play in such a narrow place.
Man in his 50s
The number of caterpillars after the cherry blossoms fell was way too much.
Man in his 50s
We were allowed to use privately owned land as a park.
Man, 60 or older
