We Got Takeout Curry Bento from Curry no Shimin Alba in Kotoen Since 1995 [Nishi-Tsu Gourmet]

I got takeout curry bento from the long-established curry shop 『カレーの市民アルバ』 in Kotoen (^_^)/

It’s a Kanazawa curry shop located along the Hankyu Railway tracks!

The “Vegetable Curry” at 『カレーの市民アルバ』

Vegetable Curry ¥770 (tax included) + ¥40 container fee

Alba’s curry seems to fall into the genre known as Kanazawa curry.

From what I looked up, its defining features are a rich, thick roux and shredded cabbage on the side (^_^)/

The beef and vegetables are simmered until tender, giving the curry a richness you just can’t recreate at home. It has real depth, with just the right amount of spice!

The vegetables in the vegetable curry are potatoes, eggplant, and tomatoes!

Along with the crisp shredded cabbage, everything was sitting on top of the rice as if waiting for the roux (^_^)/

The potatoes are fresh potatoes that have been deep-fried, making them nice and fluffy.

There were also two grapes mixed in with the vegetables! Having a little dessert included really lifts your mood!!!

One of the best things about takeout is that you can bring it back to the office and share it with everyone—and hear what they think! (^_^)/

“It has sweetness, and then the spice comes chasing after it. The umami is really concentrated! It tastes like they must put a lot of time and effort into making it.”

Final Thoughts

Apparently, members of Kyuso Nekokami, the band known for singing “Welcome to Nishinomiya”, used to visit often when they were students at Kwansei Gakuin University (^_^)/
