Why not try some Vietnamese soul food near JR Nishinomiya?
This article is brought to you by “Nichinoken,” a cram school that supports Nishitsu.
We got takeout of the street-food favorite “banh mi” from “Banh Mi Tinker,” a sister shop of “Tinker” (^o^)/
※Banh mi is a Vietnamese sandwich.

The Banh Mi BOX from “Banh Mi Tinker”

Banh Mi BOX \800
The Banh Mi BOX comes with “your choice of banh mi,” “today’s fresh spring roll,” and “waffle-cut fries”♪

From the menu, I chose the “Shrimp and Avocado Banh Mi,” and for the sauce, I went with the staff-recommended “chili mayo sauce” 😀 Since I love cilantro, I asked for extra cilantro too~
※Normally, extra cilantro seems to be +50 yen, but because there had been a stretch of rainy days and they couldn’t get cilantro in as planned, they said they wouldn’t charge extra and would just add a little more cilantro for me.

It’s packed with lettuce, tomato, avocado, pickled daikon and carrot, shrimp, red onion, and plenty of cilantro~
It looks like it’s about to overflow from the bread.

Give it a firm squeeze and take a big bite 😆
The pickled daikon and carrot add such a great accent~
The recommended “chili mayo sauce” matches so perfectly! It has a slight spicy kick, but the mayo makes it nice and smooth.
It’s not a rock-hard French baguette, but a softer French bread, which really works here~
The bread and fillings kind of gently come together? Complement each other? Something like that… And I’m guessing the bread is spread with margarine instead of butter. Just a guess, though.

Today’s fresh spring roll was the “Duck and Cream Cheese Fresh Spring Roll.” Mizuna greens and kaiware sprouts were wrapped with smoked duck, and there was cream cheese inside too~
This slightly unusual fresh spring roll feels very Tinker.

Vietnamese Coffee \270
For the drink, it’s “Vietnamese coffee.” It’s coffee with condensed milk.

The condensed milk settles at the bottom, so make sure to stir it well before drinking~
Even after a little time had passed and the ice had melted, it didn’t taste watered down at all. It was a full-bodied coffee.
The sweetness from the condensed milk is irresistible if you have a sweet tooth.
Banh Mi “Tinker” Menu

- Cilantro? (with cilantro / without cilantro / extra cilantro)
- Choose your sauce (classic chili sauce / chili mayo sauce / muối ớt chanh)
It’s probably best to call ahead and reserve your takeout order for a smoother pickup.
I picked up the items at Tinker next door.
At the neighboring “Tinker,” you can get Asian street food for takeout, so if you pair it with banh mi, you can definitely enjoy a little Asian travel mood right by JR Nishinomiya.
