A “wagashi vending machine” had been installed in front of “髙山堂 Nishinomiya Main Store” along the Nakatsuhama Line, so I went to buy some Japanese sweets~(^^)/

Here’s what Takayamado’s “wagashi vending machine” looks like

The one on the left sells Takayamado’s signature items like “Sweet Mermaid” and “Mai Kasane,” along with classic wagashi such as “Mikasa,” “Tomi Monaka,” and “Nama Kintsuba.”
This one is the common type where you put in money and press the item number!
The one on the right is a vending machine for rice-flour butter sandwiches, which don’t really look like wagashi(^^)/

This one uses a touch panel!

It also supported electronic payments!(^^)!
What did I buy from the “wagashi vending machine”?
Rice-flour butter sandwiches(*^-^*)
At first I thought, “Is this really wagashi?” but after reading the explanation written on the vending machine, I was convinced!

Yep! This counts as wagashi too~ I was wondering, “Which flavor should I choose?” but they were all sold out(-_-;)
Sooo disappointing~(T_T)

Come to think of it, there was this sign next to the vending machine~(^_^;)
Apparently it was still in trial operation, and it’s expected to start running properly soon! Photos were taken in December 2021
Takayamado’s “Rice-Flour Butter Sandwiches”
Even though the vending machine was sold out, they had them inside the shop(*^-^*)Yay, I was already in butter-sandwich mode
It said that butter sandwiches originated in Japan!

The packaging is stylish too~(^^♪

Here’s what they look like inside~(^^)/

Ta-da! Rice-flour butter sandwiches~!(^^)!
The flavors were rum raisin and black soybean kinako, 324 yen each

Rum Raisin
It has raisins soaked in rum, so it has a grown-up flavor!(^^)!
The sable cookie part, made with rice flour, domyoji flour (steamed glutinous rice that’s dried and coarsely ground), and cane sugar, has a delicate, crumbly texture(*^-^*)
The gentle sweetness matches perfectly with the butter filling~ This sable feels like it would get along well with any flavor!
Black Soybean Kinako
Kinako and black soybeans are a perfect match! The fragrant kinako and sweet black soybeans really shine, giving it that wagashi feel(*^-^*)
I want to try every flavor!!! Hooray for butter sandwiches made with Japanese ingredients(^^)/
*The butter sandwiches are refrigerated items, so when you buy them in the shop, they include an ice pack and a stylish bag. They’re 4 yen more expensive than from the vending machine, but that makes sense!
