Somei Yoshino starts from 3/17! Also, I was seriously startled because I’d only ever seen “Somei Yoshino” written in katakana. Or so I thought, but apparently it’s not exactly the same. See this site for details
Spring 15th celebration
Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.
Here’s a photo from Toki no Tabibito, who sent us the information↓

Gardens at around 9 a.m. There really aren’t many people there.
Additional note on the variety↓

It’s called Kohigan-zakura. It blooms early, and the flowers apparently start opening around the spring equinox.

There are shiny gold origami cranes!

Here’s what the cherry blossom buds look like right now.

They say the best time to see them will be in about a week.
Can’t wait to see the cherry blossoms at Gardens in full bloom.
*Toki no Tabibito, thank you for the information!!
