Japan’s first fresh bagel specialty shop, “Bagels!”, had its grand opening on April 24.

Two days after opening. Despite the rain, a line of customers had already formed right after opening at “Bagels!”

In the middle of all that, Nishitsu reader supporter Sasako went to buy some for us!! Thank you!
A “fresh bagel” seems to mean one that is baked using a unique method and served right after baking, hot, chewy, and fluffy. It looks like this is Japan’s first fresh bagel shop.
5 kinds of fresh bagels from “Bagels!” plus one more

At first glance, it looks like a donut, but it’s a bagel.
Most people probably don’t eat bagels that often in everyday life, right?

Orange 290 yen (tax included)
It has a flavor like mildly sweet orange jam. The chewy texture feels new and different from regular sliced bread.

There were bits of orange scattered inside the bagel.

Coffee Caramel Chocolate 250 yen (tax included)
The lightly coffee-flavored dough and caramel chocolate come together in such a happy-tasting combination. Nice.

The black plain dough is made with bamboo charcoal.

Curry 250 yen (tax included)
Curry bread is usually fried bread, right? Personally, I appreciate a curry bread-like item that isn’t fried, because it feels lighter. Who knew chewy bagel dough and curry went this well together?

The curry is tucked inside like this. The amount is on the modest side. It’s not that spicy, so kids should be fine with it too.

Banane Chocolat 290 yen (tax included)
It has banana on top. Since the dough is chocolate, you get that chocolate flavor. It’s the No. 2 most popular item!

The cross-section might be the simplest among the ones we tried this time.

Fig Cream Cheese 290 yen (tax included)
A fig sits boldly right in the center. The dough is cocoa.

And there’s cream cheese inside. Apparently, this steady favorite is the No. 1 most popular cheese item.

Smoked Chicken Sandwich 480 yen (tax included)
And this sandwich basically looks like a burger.

Because it’s smoked chicken, it has that smoky aroma, and if you close your eyes, it feels like you’ve been transported to a campsite out in nature. I really like this flavor.

They’re sold in bags like this.

The mentaiko potato one seems like it’ll be popular. Getting a plain one and filling it with whatever you have at home sounds good too.
