It looks like the McDonald’s in front of Koshien Stadium will close on June 25.
(This information was provided by Ueda-san, Hamaamu @ Nishitsu supporter, Mitchy-san, and Grand-san. Thank you!)
Here it is ↓

It says it will be temporarily closed as of June 25.
It also says it will reopen in December.
Here it is on the map ↓
The address is 11-20 Koshien Nanabancho, Nishinomiya, Hyogo.
Area around McDonald’s Koshien Stadium Front

From the sidewalk, you can see Corowa and the plaza in front of Koshien Station.

If you go this way, you’ll head toward Koshien Stadium and LaLaport Koshien.

If you go in the opposite direction, you’ll find Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and the way toward Koshien Station.
Will it become a McCafé?

It will temporarily close, but the notice says, “We look forward to seeing you again at the newly reborn McDonald’s” in December.
There’s also an image photo of “McCafe (McCafé)” on the notice.
So maybe this is hinting that it will come back as a McCafé. (That’s just speculation. It’s not confirmed information.)
What is McCafe (McCafé)?
The official name of McCafé is “McCafé by Barista.”
Here are some of its features.
- A café that does not serve McDonald’s menu items like hamburgers or fries
- McCafé has dedicated baristas on staff
- It also serves desserts such as macarons and cakes
- McCafé is usually attached to a McDonald’s
So maybe there will be two shops: McDonald’s and McCafé by Barista. Maybe.
The menu looks like this ↓
Nearby major “McCafé by Barista” locations include one in Sannomiya Center Gai, and in Umeda there are locations on the route between JR and Hankyu, as well as at Yodobashi. Search for Barista locations here
McCafé® and McCafé by Barista mean different things
Actually, “McCafé®” already exists.
You’re probably thinking, “What??????”
This ↓
Coffee on the drink menu.
The café menu items available at McDonald’s are sometimes called “McCafé®.” So it’s a little confusing.
By the way,

The McDonald’s along Yamate Kansen was closed for about a week in May, and apparently it was being prepared so that some menu items offered by McCafé by Barista could be served there. Since it only offers some of the items, strictly speaking, it is not a “McCafé by Barista” location.
The McDonald’s along Yamate Kansen sells items like macarons that regular McDonald’s locations don’t have. Since it’s only “some” items, there are apparently menu items they don’t sell as well.

If you absolutely need your McDonald’s fix, it’s a bit farther away, but head over to Ito-Yokado.
Finally
What kind of McDonald’s will the Koshien location come back as? If McCafé by Barista opens there, it would be the first one in Nishinomiya. That said, the temporary closure is probably pretty shocking for many people.
Ueda-san, Hamaamu @ Nishitsu supporter, Mitchy-san, and Grand-san, thank you for the information!!
