This is part of a project called “あの夏を取り戻せ～全国元高校球児野球大会 2020-2023～” (“Take Back That Summer: National Former High School Baseball Players Tournament 2020-2023”). It seems the project was launched to replace the Koshien tournament that was canceled due to COVID-19, helping former high school baseball players find closure and take their next step forward. Furuta-san is supporting it too～
They are aiming to raise 70 million yen for operating funds through crowdfunding. If the goal is successfully reached, there will be a ceremony at Hanshin Koshien Stadium on November 29, followed by exhibition games between participating teams at baseball stadiums in Hyogo Prefecture on November 30 and December 1.
If the goal is not reached, the event will still be held in a more minimal format, with players covering costs such as transportation themselves.
It looks like 44 teams and around 1,000 former high school baseball players are expected to participate. It seems not all prefectures are participating yet.
Since these were students from three years ago, they have now graduated from high school. So yes, they’re all alumni now. Plus three years older.
Hyogo’s representative at the time was apparently “Sanda Shosei High School.”

The representative of this project, Yuto Otake, a student at Musashino University, is also a young entrepreneur who founded a company called VEL LLC. When Otake-san first entered university, he apparently had the drive to do something but didn’t yet know what he wanted to do. To take on such a big challenge from that starting point is amazing! And Nishinomiya, home to Koshien Stadium, which can move people’s hearts like this, is pretty amazing too. Though nationally, a lot of people seem to think it’s in Osaka～. Koshien is in Nishinomiya
