It looks like “Mochi Mugi Daifuku” has been on sale at Sazae Honten along National Route 171 since June 15.
120 yen each (before tax)
It seems the mochi part of the daifuku has whole grains of mochi barley mixed in. Mochi barley has recently been called a superfood, and its soluble dietary fiber, barley beta-glucan, is said to slow digestion and absorption. That means it supposedly helps keep blood sugar from rising too quickly. In other words, it’s pretty much the perfect ingredient to go with sweet red bean paste.
