The “National Street Project Contest” is a nationwide contest held once a year to recognize outstanding street projects that contribute to regional economic development and improved welfare for residents.
By the way, this is Hyogo Prefecture’s first award in 11 years, since the “Yamate Kansen Improvement Project” was selected at the 24th contest!
What is the grade separation project near Naruo Station?
It was highly praised for incorporating Japan’s first full-scale university facility under an elevated railway, as well as for its innovative efforts as a project carried out in cooperation with the local community.
That’s what they said!

Finally
I used to pass through here without thinking much about it, but when you look at it again knowing it won the grand prize nationwide, it really is a cool, futuristic-looking station!
Apparently, it’s also the first place in Japan to have a university under an elevated railway! I had no idea! That’s something to be really proud of✨
